Better for our communities

We are making sustainability reporting more transparent and more useful

Investors want companies to be more sustainable and to report honestly on their performance in this area. But with no consistent standards of environmental reporting, companies are struggling to meet this challenge.

Working as part of the Prince of Wales’ Accounting for Sustainability programme, we are helping companies to report clearly on energy, carbon, waste and water. KPMG partners and employees have been seconded to the project and are supported by our Carbon Advisory Group. It’s a project that will help our society and enhance the knowledge and skills we can offer to clients.

Sustainability built–in: new UK headquarters

In 2006 we announced the development of a new UK headquarters in Canary Wharf, which we are due to occupy in 2010.

We are now working towards some ambitious sustainability targets for the building, including:

  • 50% C02 cut against the 2006 Building Regulations.
  • 90% of construction waste diverted away from landfill.
  • 20% of materials used by value to have recycled content.
  • Cycling facilities for 150 – 200 bikes.
