Chairman’s Statement

We are determined to achieve even more

On 1 October we said goodbye to Mike Rake as Chairman of KPMG International. We are delighted that his contribution to the firm and the profession was justly recognised, through an ’Outstanding Industry Contribution’ award from Accountancy Age, and we wish him every success as Chairman of BT Group. We look forward to working with our new International Chairman, Tim Flynn, who also leads KPMG in the US.

So I sign off this last Chairman’s Statement for KPMG in the UK with confidence. Since the severe market downturn of 2001/2002, the UK firm has grown by some 60%. That is clear evidence of our sheer determination to be better at what we do, day after day, year after year and this ethos will continue as we progress as KPMG Europe LLP.

I now look forward to publishing the first set of accounts for KPMG Europe LLP with my co–Chairman, Rolf Nonnenmacher. We both believe that the year ahead will be an exciting one for the new firm.
