KPMG awarded 3 Stars in Best Companies Accreditation scheme
KPMG in the UK has, for the second year in a row, been awarded the top 'Three Star Status' in the Best Companies Accreditation 2007 Scheme. The scheme recognises organisational excellence in the area of employee engagement and is based on what employees say they want from the workplace experience. The accreditation follows a 'Michelin style' rating system where one star is first class, two stars are outstanding and three stars are extraordinary.
The accreditation scheme is developed by Best Companies, the organisation responsible for researching and compiling the Sunday Times Best Companies to work for list. 'Star Status' is defined by analysing employee opinion from the Sunday Times 2007 survey and since September over 100,000 employees from over 400 companies have been surveyed. Accreditation differs from an award in that it provides a year-round 'Michelin style' rating and provides an absolute standard for organisations.
Of the 434 organisations who registered to go for 'Star Status' this year, 273 organisations achieved 'Star Status' with only 42 achieving 'Three Stars'. KPMG is the only one of the Big Four to receive 'Three Star Status' with PricewaterhouseCoopers, Deloitte and Ernst & Young all achieving Two Stars.
Jonathan Austin, Chief Executive of Best Companies, said: "KPMG 2007 accreditation is an outstanding achievement. It confirms their commitment to the ongoing journey of workplace engagement. Our role is to set a rigorous benchmark so that organisations can become better employers."
Rachel Campbell, KPMG's Head of People Management in the UK, comments: "The Best Companies Three Star accreditation is a tremendous accolade. This achievement is particularly significant as it is based on the views of our people and shows that we are continuing to make progress in our ambition to be the best choice for our people. Achieving Three Star accreditation distinguishes us from our competitors and is year-round recognition of the work we have done to create a high performance culture in which our people can fulfil their potential.”
Dave Conder, UK Director for Human Resources at KPMG, was invited to receive the award at a celebration event of Best Companies Accreditation at The Berkeley Hotel in Knightsbridge.
