Sector specific events

Recognising the particular technical issues different sectors face, the ACI has established industry specific technical update sessions, to assist audit committee members.

The following events will be held at KPMG, Salisbury Square, London EC4.

Pension Funds breakfast
Pension schemes are increasing their exposure to alternative investments which are typically opaque arrangements and often difficult to value by reference to general market data. Against a backdrop of high profile scandals such as Madoff and Stanford, trustee audit committees are increasingly asking what due diligence can and should be carried out over these investments. Our alternative investment experts will be in hand to give key insights into the due diligence issues that trustees should be considering in relation to these investments.

Thursday 18 March 2010
Tea and coffee will be served from 7.45 am, with breakfast at 8.00 am, closing by 9.15 am.

Charities Seminar
The current economic climate requires organisations to look for cost efficiencies in all areas. Management and audit committees need confidence that their controls are robust and their reporting reliable and the charity sector is no exception - whilst many charities have budgets for internal audit, the breadth of focus and therefore the value derived from the spend is often challenged.

Getting the right assurance information is essential to providing effective oversight of the charity’s financial reports, its risks, internal controls, and finance team and this seminar is designed to help you take the opportunity to meet this challenge.

Thursday 11 February 2010
Tea, coffee and pastries to be served at 9.30 am for a 10.00 am start with a buffet lunch at 12.00 pm.

Social Housing seminars
The uncertain economic outlook, credit crunch and weak housing market continue to present difficult operating conditions for housing associations. In 2010 public expenditure constraints are likely to start to bite and significant policy changes are possible if there is a change of government. Senior members of KPMG’s housing associations team will provide audit committee members with topical insights into the risks and issues facing the sector.

  • Thursday 22 April 2010 - Tea and Coffee will be served at 9.30 am for a 10.00 am start. The seminar will be followed by a buffet lunch at 12.00 pm.
  • Wednesday 13 October 2010 - Tea and Coffee will be served at 9.30 am for a 10 am start. The seminar will be followed by a buffet lunch at 12.00 pm.
